Wow, WDHB has the most brilliant resources on their website for us who are involved in gerentology, and I wanted to link that to our website so that you can see some the awesome work and resources available! <img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1556" src="http://www.medcall the best weight loss supplement.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/450px-Costumi_Napoletani_-_Anziani_Old_People_of_Naples.jpg” alt=”Gerontology Couple” width=”478″ height=”300″ srcset=”https://www.medcall.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/450px-Costumi_Napoletani_-_Anziani_Old_People_of_Naples.jpg 478w, https://www.medcall.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/450px-Costumi_Napoletani_-_Anziani_Old_People_of_Naples-300×188.jpg 300w” sizes=”(max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px” />Educating and supporting professional development for aged care workers is essential. This is a sector that struggles with funding in terms of the direct wages paid to staff and may not seem as ‘exciting’ or ‘glam’ as other health sectors – but I think the opposite! Caring for the elderly is holistic and comprehensive nursing and care that does not occur in many other sectors I can think of. The elderly bring stories, challenges, family/whanau, history, acute illness, chronic disease, wisdom, multiple medications, big life decisions….. and we as their nurses and carers are responsible for supporting all of that every day – what a joy! Anyway, being an aged care nurse, manager or carer rocks and to help you appreciate your role and responsibility more – here are some awesome resources. Thanks WDHB!
